Social welfare program
Social Welfare Program of Postal Insurance
Korea Post's social contribution projects officially began in 1995 with scholarship support for children who are heads of households, gradually expanding the scale of public interest projects. In September 2013, the Korea Post Foundation was established to perform a full-fledged public role, and continues its efforts to this day.
As a state-owned enterprise, the Korea Post is expanding its public interest projects to areas that need helping hands to fulfill its social responsibility. The scale of public interest project funding has been increased annually, and in 2023, a total of 11.7 billion won was allocated for public interest projects, including 8.7 billion won for 12 projects across 4 areas and 3 billion won for public interest insurance. Since the establishment of the Korea Post Foundation (2013), a cumulative total of approximately 130.7 billion won has supported about 1.84 million people.
In 2023, Korea Post supported the nationwide expansion of Welfare Registered Mail Service,' a service where mail carriers deliver registered mail containing welfare information to households suspected to be in welfare blind spots using the Post Office's human and physical infrastructure. They also pursued various projects such as adding two more 'Cafe I Got Everything' (supporting a total of 4 locations) to support the economic independence of people with disabilities.
Furthermore, to actively contribute to solving demographic and social problems such as low birth rates and increased pregnancy complications due to advanced maternal age, they launched the public interest insurance 'Post Office Korea Mom Insurance' (November 2023) and fully supported insurance premiums for approximately 11,000 policyholders.
Korea Post will continue to lead high-quality social contribution activities and pursue ongoing public interest projects to create a 'Korea Post that delivers happiness to the people'.
